Hi, I\u2019m Tom Hughes, CEO of GembaDocs. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to speak to 60 Brazilian farmers in a webinar hosted by Henrique Zaparoli Marques from Escola Cooperativa Terra Lean. Our focus? Lean principles and the vital role of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) in agricultural environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What made this session particularly special for me was its connection to my roots. I grew up on a small farm in the middle of nowhere in Northern Ireland, so I could genuinely relate to some of the challenges these farmers face\u2014albeit on a smaller scale. Many of the attendees represented large-scale operations employing thousands of seasonal workers, and it was fascinating to explore how Lean principles could help them manage complexity while maintaining consistency and efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the session, we delved into how Lean can transform farming practices, especially in environments where resources and time are limited. We also discussed the critical importance of having clear, actionable SOPs. It was fantastic to see that many participants were already familiar with GembaDocs, using it to create and sustain their SOPs. Hearing how they\u2019ve put these tools to work in the field was incredibly rewarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engagement from the audience was phenomenal. It\u2019s always energizing to see so much curiosity and openness to learning, and this group did not disappoint. They asked insightful questions and shared their experiences, turning the webinar into a rich exchange of ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I reflect on this session, I feel immensely grateful for the opportunities I\u2019ve had to share my insights with diverse audiences across the globe. Speaking engagements like this remind me why I\u2019m so passionate about Lean\u2014it’s not just a methodology; it\u2019s a mindset that has the power to transform industries, big or small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
